Request Pictures

The Request Pictures action lets you ask the warehouse team to take photos of specific inventory items. Whether you need images for a product listing, want to verify the condition of items before shipping, or need visual documentation for a dispute, this feature gives you a direct line to the warehouse for getting the images you need.

How to Request Pictures

Follow these steps to submit a picture request from the Inventory page:

  1. Select the relevant inventory rows. Use the checkboxes on the inventory table to select the items you want photographed. You can select one or multiple rows depending on how many products you need images for.

  2. Open Request Actions. Click the Request Actions dropdown at the top of the table and select Request Pictures.

  3. Add notes and instructions. This is where you tell the warehouse exactly what you need. Be specific about what should be captured in the photos. Good instructions make a big difference in the quality and usefulness of the images you receive. Consider including details like:

    • Which angles to photograph (front, back, top, bottom, all sides)
    • Whether to include close-ups of labels, barcodes, or branding
    • If you want the item photographed inside or outside its packaging
    • Any specific damage or defects you want documented
    • Whether you need a size reference (like a ruler or coin) in the shot
  4. Submit the request. Click Submit to send the request to the warehouse team. They will photograph the items according to your instructions and make the images available for your review.

Common Use Cases

Picture requests come in handy across a variety of situations in your daily operations.

Quality checks before shipment. If you have received customer complaints about a particular product or batch, requesting photos before shipping additional units lets you inspect conditions without being physically present at the warehouse.

Product listing images. When launching a new product or refreshing a listing, warehouse photos can serve as a quick way to get usable images without arranging a separate photo shoot.

Damage documentation. If items arrived at the warehouse in poor condition, requesting photos creates a visual record you can use for supplier claims, insurance filings, or customer communication.

Label and barcode verification. Before requesting a shipment to Amazon or another fulfillment channel, you might want to verify that the correct labels and barcodes are applied to your products.

Tips for Getting the Best Results

The more specific your instructions, the better the photos you will receive. Vague requests like "take a picture" often result in images that do not capture what you actually needed. Instead, spell out exactly what you want to see.

If you need multiple angles or types of photos, list them out in your notes. For example: "Please photograph the front label, the barcode on the back, and any visible dents or scratches on the packaging." This gives the warehouse team a clear checklist to follow.

If you are requesting pictures for many items at once, consider grouping similar products in the same request so the warehouse can handle them efficiently in a single session.

Tracking Your Request

Once submitted, your picture request appears on the Requested Pictures page. You can monitor the status there to see when the warehouse has completed the photos and made them available for your review.
