Request a Shipment
Requesting a shipment is how you instruct the warehouse to pack and ship specific inventory units. Whether you are fulfilling FBM orders or sending FBA replenishment to Amazon, this workflow walks you through specifying quantities, choosing a shipping method, and attaching the correct labels so the warehouse has everything it needs to get your packages out the door.
How to Request a Shipment
Follow these steps to submit a shipment request from the Inventory page:
-
Select inventory rows. Use the checkboxes on the left side of the inventory table to select one or more rows that you want to ship. Make sure the selected rows are fulfillment-compatible -- you cannot mix different fulfillment types in a single shipment request.
-
Open Request Actions. Click the Request Actions dropdown at the top of the table and select Request Shipment.
-
Enter shipment details. Provide a shipment name that clearly identifies this request. You can also add optional notes with any special instructions for the warehouse team, such as packaging preferences or handling requirements.
-
Set quantities. For each selected order row, enter the quantity you want to ship. Review these numbers carefully to make sure you are shipping the right amount of each item. The quantities you enter here tell the warehouse exactly how many units to pull and pack.
-
Choose a shipping method. Depending on your setup, you may need to select a carrier and shipping method. Manual workflows require you to explicitly choose the carrier and service level. If your account has a default shipping method configured, it may be pre-selected for you.
-
Attach or select labels. If client-provided labels are required for your shipments, you will be prompted to attach labels from your Labels Management library or upload new ones. Select the correct label pages that correspond to this shipment. The warehouse will print and apply these labels to your packages.
-
Submit the request. Once everything looks correct, click Submit. The request will be created and sent to the warehouse for processing.
Important Considerations
There are a few things to keep in mind when requesting shipments to ensure a smooth process.
Fulfillment compatibility matters. The rows you select must share the same fulfillment type. If you try to combine different fulfillment types like FBA and FBM items in a single request, the system will not allow you to proceed. Group your shipments by fulfillment channel to avoid issues.
Missing ASIN data can block submission. If any of your selected rows are missing critical product data such as an ASIN, the shipment request may be blocked. Before submitting, make sure your inventory data is complete. You can use the Bulk Edit feature to fill in missing fields across multiple rows.
Double-check label selections. Sending the wrong label is one of the most common mistakes in the shipment workflow. Take an extra moment to verify that the label pages you have selected match the items and destinations in your shipment request.
Review quantities before submitting. Once a shipment request is submitted, changing quantities requires additional coordination with the warehouse. Getting it right the first time saves time for everyone.
Tracking Your Shipment Request
After you submit a shipment request, it appears on the Requested Shipments page where you can track its status. You will be able to see whether the warehouse has started processing your request, if it is in progress, or if it has been completed.
Once the warehouse finishes packing and shipping your items, the shipment moves to the Outbound page where you can view tracking information and confirm delivery status.
